Networking:
Networking is a relationship building process that can benefit you throughout through helping you share and gain information with others.
It can be intimidating to reach out to connections, but everyone you meet can be a part of your network. Your coaches, teammates, alumni from your sport, athletics staff, professors, friends and relatives are all examples of people in your network.
Some things to keep in mind when networking:
Reach outside of your industry or major to broaden opportunities.
Ask open-ended questions.
Before networking, know who you want to talk to and what topics you want to discuss.
Be open and listen to what your networking contact is saying.
Always follow up! It shows an interest in an ongoing relationship!
Informational Interview:
Informational interviews provide an opportunity to explore possible career paths, expand your professional network, and build confidence for your job interviews in 30 minutes or less. Although an informational interview or job shadow won’t immediately result in a job, it’s a great way to get gain visibility.
